PhD Position (m/f/d) Development of Bioabsorbable Zn Alloys and Forming Methods for EMD Applications

Project Description

This PhD-project will develop Zn alloys with potential for high electrochemical stability and high ductility.

The objectives of this project are:

1. Development and application of high purity casting processes by modification of equipment.

2. Identification of forming processes and process routes to enable production of thin wires and thin walled tubes from Zn alloys.

3. Establishment and development of warm forming methods for thin structures of ultra-fine grain microstructures using an in-house micronscale extrusion system to enable production of thin Zn wires and tubes available in Meotec

4. Experimental analysis of microstructural features with regards to mechanical behaviour and degradation properties.

5. Validation of processing route and production of suitable amounts of material.
