PhD Position (m/f/d) Development of a Bioabsorbable Microsurgery Device for Suture-less Anastomosis

Project Description

The objectives of this PhD-project are:

1. Establish Design I/O matrix for development of concept for a target design of a microsurgical device for sutureless anastomosis (coupler device).

2. Conduct in vitro cytocompatibility testing of preferred Mg/Zn alloys and/or silk fibroin (for general biocompatibility data within WP2).

3. Production of early design prototypes for preliminary testing.

4. Design optimisation and ex-vivo (optionally in-vivo) verification of late-stage prototype devices to show a stable interlock with > 9 N tensile strength and > 40 mmHg burst pressure.
