Project Description
My name is João and I’m a Biomedical Engineer with a background in Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. I’m passionate about medical device development, and in this project, I’m dedicated to advancing the manufacturing processes for novel bioabsorbable metallic devices.
My research focuses on laser cutting and wire braiding technologies, which will be used to fabricate micron-scale test specimens and early-stage medical device prototypes. The key objectives of my work are:
- Developing manufacturing routes for bioabsorbable endovascular devices using high-precision laser-cutting +
- Wire-braiding techniques
- Produce test specimens, stent sub-units, and early-stage stent prototypes for characterisation and validation
- Optimize the entire manufacturing process to enhance precision, reliability, and scalability for final medical device prototypes.
By refining these advanced fabrication methods, I will push the boundaries of bioabsorbable medical technology and contribute to the next generation of endovascular devices.
